FAQs
What’s up with the “Adult Reception,” Disclaimer on the invitations?
We’ve received a lot of flak for this, but we would sincerely appreciate everyone’s effort in maintaining this event’s status an “adults-only,” engagement (15 years and older). There will be free alcoholic beverages for guests (21 yrs. +) and, just as we feel it would be inappropriate to take children to a bar or club, we’d feel uncomfortable having children at the reception. We appreciate everyone’s respect & understanding for this request.
What to wear?
If you’re acquainted with the bride or groom, you should already be aware of our casual nature… As such, our event is intended to be casual. No tuxedos or suits required… If you wear one, you’ll be better dressed than the groom
Button-up shirts and khakis are perfect. For the ladies, anything works: a simple dress, khakis, etc.
What to bring?
Just yourself. We’ll have drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), food (Italian, hopefully), music, and seating.
Where should I park?
You may park at First Baptist Church as long as they do not have an event at the same time. The grass parking lot is located behind Ivy House Restaurant.
Where can I find accommodations if I need to stay the night?
We’ve provide a full listing of local hotels and motels on this site. Please check out the Accommodations Page for links, maps, etc.
What are the start/stop times for the Ceremony & Reception?
The entire event is scheduled to begin at 4:00PM on Saturday, May 29, 2010. There will be a short wedding ceremony, followed by dinner, drinks, a toast, and music & dancing for the rest evening. Tear-down and cleanup is scheduled for 9:30PM that night.
Who created/printed the invitations?
We opted for custom, non-traditional invitations that we created together (using Photoshop + Fireworks). The printing was handled by Rush Flyers Offset Printing Specialists, who I often use for printing client business cards. We used their 4×6 double-sided UV-coated cards as invitation mailers and printed the RSVP cards at home.
What’s to eat/drink?
We’ve just finished planning our menu with the caterer, Tracey Hicks Catering from Lake City, FL. We’ll have a varied menu consisting of: Caribbean Chicken, Herb Crusted Roast, Garlic Gruyere Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Vegetables, Sweet Green Bean bundles, salad, and rolls — and, of course, cake! An open-bar will also be available all night (or until it runs dry) — the bar menu will be available soon, but I can disclose our signature drink: Tequila Sunrise. There will be a variety of liquors, beers (domestic and import), and mixers to suit all tastes, in addition to Champagne (or Sparkling Wine) for the toast.
